Unstoppable Under 9s

The Under 9s had two storming games on Sunday. Despite a very soft pitch there was nothing to slow them down. The tackling was relentless from both sides but Dartmouths handling and teamwork saw Dartmouth regain possession at the breakdown time and again. Combined with some superbly determined individual runs this resulted in every member of the team scoring one or more tries. The score of the first game was Dartmouth 40 - Brixham 0.

After a very short break Dartmouth was back on the pitch to face a fresh Newton Abbot side. Looking for revenge after their home defeat a month ago NA players were fast and showed good handling and tackling skills. NA had Darts back on their own line several times but were stopped from scoring by some great individual tackling from the Darts. Eventually some great running and passing by Dartmouth broke NA's defence, beating them Dartmouth 40 - Newton Abbot 5. The coaches and parents would I am sure like to congratulate the team on the most gutsey and skilled performance this team has ever produced. Well done boys.

Playing age

The RFU have been in touch with Dickie and said that all players must be 6 to play in matches.
I know that this affects a couple of players, and its a real pity but we will have to impose the rule.
Apologies to those who are disappointed - but its only a matter of time.

Exeter Chiefs

The boys and I went to see Exeter play Rotherham on saturday, and at the game Paignton juniors welcomed the teams onto the pitch.

I contacted Exeter today, and they were really helpful and interested in building links with us - and there is a chance of us getting invited to share the honours at the bedofr match.

The community development officer is also hoping to offer us places on their tag and contact coaching courses.

More news to follow.

John Travolta joins Dartmouth mini rugby coaching squad

Dickie shows all his best moves to the kids.

Key actions needed

The club is going from strength to strength, but our success could be our downfall if we don't address the issue of coaches now.

We need more parents to attend the RFU training course so that we have a larger pool of qualifed coaches. The course is one evening and its good fun. There is a contact course running at Kingsbridge on the 8 December, and Rob masters of RFU is letting me know as soon as he has a date for a Tag course. If we get double figures then he will run a course at Dartmouth.

If you would be willing to attend the course you wouldnt be expected to help out all the time, but it would just give us an extra pair of hands when we are short.

Floodlights

We have ordered the first of our new floodlights for training on a trial basis. The lights are £515 each, and if they are suitable for the job we will purchase 6 for training.
